Draft report on preliminary recommendations for the review of the Taxonomy Climate Delegated Act – EUGINE input
20 February 2025
The Platform on Sustainable Finance was as set up by the Commission to provide advice on the further development of the EU taxonomy. The draft report put up for consultation is a deliverable in accordance with the Platform’s mandate under the Taxonomy Regulation.
In our reply, we underlined that now is not the time to further tighten the requirements, but rather the time to consider simplifications. We instead recommend to increase reliability and planability for reporting entities by ensuring stable requirements for a minimum period of 5 years, replace or complement the do no significant harm (DNSH) criteria and thresholds by an approach that better acknowledges the role of the activity in the energy system, apply thresholds not on each technology or company level but only on a defined system level and recognise that the plans for reaching the threshold often depend on the availability of climate-neutral or low-carbon fuel alternatives or a CCS infrastructure.
